Jazz Semi-hollow Guitar

A Gibson ES-150, Jazz-inpired, semi-hollowbody guitar.

With a curly maple top, a Brazillian mahogany body, and through neck, this guitar retains its tonal properties while being able to hold a long and consistantly smooth sustain.

The 'no f-holes' design reduces the possibility of feedback and increases the resonating and tonal properties of the guitar. With a warm round tone, this guitar is capable of getting a crisp edge while maintaining its deep lows.

Now, you said you tailored this guitar to play slide, how did that effect your design?

Actually, I tailored this guitar to play jazz; I didn't realize until later that when I played a slide on this guitar, it sounded reminiscent of an old Doulian slide acoustic guitar.  It has that same bright but 'woody' tone with an aluminum slide, and grabbed the dirtyness of the 'metal on metal' sound.

This guitar plays jazz very well. It has warm smooth undertones with buttery smooth highs and deep expanded lows.  Without f-holes this guitar is not as prone to feedback as the typical semi-hollow body. The curly maple top makes the highs brighter while making the lows tight and clear.

Being a through body neck, and having through body stringing, the strings never leave the neck, which improves this guitar's sustain.

I love working with rosewood, so this being my personal guitar, I decided to make a rosewood fretboard. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to work with it this time around. Rosewood has never let me down with performance, quality and tone.
